Stefan C. Dombrowski, Ph.D., MBA brings a rare combination of life experience, clinical expertise, and scientific rigor to his psychotherapy practice. He works from a heart-centered, evidence-based approach, helping clients enhance well-being, resilience, and effectiveness in both their personal and professional lives. Drawing on a deep understanding of life’s challenges and opportunities, Dr. Dombrowski tailors therapy to each individual’s unique needs, integrating approaches such as person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, emotion-focused, psychodynamic, family systems, and existential therapies.
Dr. Dombrowski specializes in working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, burnout, and relationship challenges. He has extensive experience supporting professionals across healthcare, business, education, law enforcement, the military, and the legal field, particularly those navigating high levels of responsibility, stress, compassion fatigue, and complex life transitions.
Dr. Dombrowski earned his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Georgia and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology at the University of California, Davis Medical Center. He is a licensed psychologist in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and has served as a graduate professor in Rider University’s School Psychology program for over 25 years, mentoring future psychologists and counselors. A prolific scholar, he has authored five books and more than 135 peer-reviewed articles and chapters in the areas of counseling and psychological assessment.
In addition to psychotherapy, Dr. Dombrowski has specialized training and experience in psychological assessment and child welfare–related evaluations, including parenting capacity, parenting time, termination of parental rights, and bonding assessments. He has testified as an expert witness in both New Jersey and California.
Dr. Dombrowski holds an undergraduate degree from the College of William & Mary and an MBA from the University of Connecticut, reflecting an earlier career in finance that informs his understanding of professional and organizational demands. A longtime resident of South Jersey, he values an active family life as a husband and father. Outside of his clinical work, he enjoys tennis, exercise, reading history, and spending time with his family.
